When considering a camp match the player level
with the camp level, look at the experience of the camp coaching staff (HS/Club,
College Coach, USA Volleyball Staff, USA National team). The higher level of camp
coaching staff will normally have a higher cost and level of expertise.. The senior
AVA coaching staff is fimilar with most of the camps and can help you select the
right camp.
Aug 4-6 Allen Allen
Volleyball Camp. Allen Allen is a former US National Team &
Pro Beach player and college coach, will be returning for his 4th
annual volleyball camp this year at West HS. There will Middle school & HS
sessions for girls plus a one day session for boys. Cost $50-$155 depending on
session. He is the premier coach visiting Alaska this summer. See Flyer

Late
May-July Mat-Su Valley Position summer schools sessions (1 day/week). This summer we will be offering an opportunity
for local players to work on their volleyball skills in a setting similar to Midnight
Sun's Skill School. We will be focused on improving players specifically in the
positions they play, as well as refining, and advancing individual skill. Practices
will consist of drills and skill work with plenty of technical feedback.
Coaches
will include: Steve Reynolds, Jayme Dehart, and a wide variety of other coaches
with first hand knowledge of the specific skills needed to take your game to the
next level. There will be two groups, one for advanced players, and one for players
with less experience. Group 1 (advanced) will meet Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:30
PM. Group 2 will meet Friday afternoons from 3-5 PM. Practices will be held in
the Palmer High Gym. Each group will meet 7 times Cost; $135. Location: Palmer

Late May-July Midnight Sun Position summer schools @ South Anchorage AT&T sport center for each position will start late May and run through the end of July and will feature a once a week practice for players by their position---setters, middles, outsides, defensive specialists. There is no game play at these summer schools, only lots of ball-handling, video taping, and training just in your position. Space in these summer schools is limited to 30 per school and is open to all players. Those going into the 9th grade will have their summer schools during the day and those going into grades 7-12 will have their summer schools in the evenings. May Kim Lester Valley Volleyball Middle School Camp
@ Colony High School. This 3-day camp will have an emphasis on basic individual
skills, and basic team offenses and defenses. The camp fee includes camp socks
and the fee is $105 if players pre-register before May 4 and $130 if paid after
May 4. This camp is recommended for girls entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade
in the fall of 2009. Camp has been held since 2000. Kim Lester will be the camp
director. She is the women's head coach from Mesa College in San Diego. Registration

Session I Individual Skills Camp
Incoming Grades 5th-8th Times: 8am-4pm
(Lunch not included) Cost: $150 This camp is designed to give campers an opportunity
to learn the fundamental skills of volleyball in a fun atmosphere. The camp will
teach the correct mechanics and proper technique in the skills of serving, passing,
setting, hitting, blocking and floor defense. The camp will be lead by current

Setter Hitter Elite Camp
Grades: Incoming 11th-12th (Varsity
experience if in 10th grade) Times: 8am-4pm(Lunch not included) Cost: $150This
camp is designed to fine tune setting and hitting technique. The camp will be
an intense camp with a lot of reps and one-on-one instruction. Hitters MUST be
physically ready for heavy use of legs and shoulders. The hitter camp will be
led by UAA coach Chris Green and the setters will be instructed by UAA coach Nicky
Rose. The camp will be limited to 30 hitters and 15 setters. Make sure to enter

6-8 JULY UAF Beginner Skills Camp
This
is the place to start!! A terrific three day (9am-4pm) experience in introduce
a solid foundation of the fundamental skills of the game. Recommended for girls
and boys with one year or less of organized training; usually grades 6-7.
Lots of drills and games to develop individual skill proficiency and confidence
which leads to success in the team game. A good introduction to our Intermediate
Skills Camp. Each camper will receive an Alaska Volleyball Camps t-shirt. CAMP

14-17 July UAF Intermediate Skills Camp An exciting, fast paced, four day camp (9am-4pm) for girls and boys focusing on the FUNdamental skills required for volleyball success. Lots of drills, games, contest, and prizes in a fun, cooperative and success oriented atmosphere. Perfect for girls and boys with at least one or more years of organized volleyball training; usually grades 8-10. Each camper will receive an Alaska Volleyball Camps t-shirt. 20-23 July UAF Advanced Skills Camp A challenging four day (9am-4pm) volleyball training experience for players who are ready to compete at the high school varsity and junior varsity level; usually 10-12. The development of solid technical and tactical skills will be emphasized. Games, contests, and prizes in a fun, competitive atmosphere. Each camper will receive an Alaska Volleyball Camps t-shirt. 13-17 July NBC Volleyball Camp is an all skills level camp in late July that is open for ages 10-18 and is a week long, over night residence camp held at Alaska Pacific Univ. in Anchorage. Non stop volleyball for the week plus tournament at the end of the week. This is an excellent, fun and intense camp. Day time hours are packed with volleyball skills training. Late July ALL-AMERICAN ELITE CAMP: The All-American camps run at the end of July and are by invitation only, we look at the top area players and invite them to high level camps that teach advanced team and individual skills. The Coach Cadre is made up of Div I College All-Americans. Midnight Sun Volleyball & AVA sends out invitations for the All-American camps in the spring. If you receive an invitation for this camp, you are considered at the upper level of the play within your peer group including high school or club play. Invitations are sent out according to evaluation of players during tournaments and recommendations from their Club, HS or middle school coaches.
There are 3 level: Level 1 (varsity level) from July 27-30 from 5-9:30 pm , Level 2 (JV level) July 27-30, 9am to 1:30 pm, Level 3 elite C team & middle school July 31- 4 Aug (skip Sunday) 9am-1pm.. These are fast, fun and advanced so if you get an invitation, take advantage of it. If you receive an invitation via e-mail or the mail, act quickly to make a decision as alternates will be selected if we do not have a response within a couple weeks. Sessions are limited to about 35 per level. Players will be coming from the Peninsula, Valley, Eagle River area, and Anchorage.
7-8 Aug UAA Team Camp Grades: High school Time: 8am-4pm (Lunch not included) Cost: $250 per Team The aim of this camp is to provide maximum team competition in a less stressful environment. No fundamental session will be held. UAA players will officiate. We will try to have 2 divisions; one varsity and one for JV and Freshman teams. Please have at least 8 players per team.
